Marcus Lofton Marcus Lofton 5'10" | PG Captain Shreve | 2025 State LA is one of those rare players who can do it all on the court, and he’s a supreme game manager. As the floor general for Captain Shreve, one of the toughest teams in the state, Lofton has a commanding presence. He boasts a superior handle, which allows him to excel in multiple facets of the game. Lofton can shoot the mid-range shot with ease, and he’s also an excellent three-point shooter. Additionally, he possesses the moves to shift defenders and maneuver in the lane, creating easy scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. It’s hard to pinpoint a flaw in his game, as he performs at an elite level in every aspect. Defensively, Lofton can frustrate opposing guards and create turnovers, all while directing traffic for his team. He’s a college-level guard who is sure to play at the next level.

Lofton is the primary ball-handler for the Gators and he displayed why he is on Tuesday night. Marcus is as steady as they come and had no problem handling pressure or getting Shreve into their sets. Lofton also displayed that he is very capable of getting his shot off against taller defenders. He is a high IQ point who sees the game well and showed it.

Lofton had a good summer playing on the Prep Hoops circuit. It was a quiet summer in that he was rarely seen. Lofton is one of the top point guards in the state. For this team to win, he will have to score and facilitate for this team. Getting off to a good start doing such on Tuesday will be a positive thing.

When it comes to controlling a game and playing with poise, few point guards play the game like Lofton. Marcus has seen every defense and been in every situation the past two seasons and has delivered. Calm under pressure with a solid mid-range jumper to boot. When it comes to playing the point, there are few better than Lofton.

Lofton is a player who came into his own as a sophomore. Being a point guard at a 5A school can be daunting but he accepted the challenge. Now, moving into his junior year, he has become more of a vocal leader and a better shooter. His shooting and passing ability will separate him from others.
