Malachi Terrell
About Malachi
Expert Analysis

Terrell had two strong scoring days for Head Coach Book Richardson in two lopsided wins. The junior combo guard is quick, athletic, strong and looks to becoming more efficient on the offensive end. The transfer from Gonzaga is shooting the ball more consistently from the perimeter and is capable of creating his own offense off the bounce.

15p 2r 1a 2s vs Mt. Zion; 26p 2r 5s vs Highland
-One of the most improved players in the area really impressed in both games as the leading scorer for his team in new threads with StJ. Terrell showed the full arsenal of his offensive skillset: hitting floaters off of 1 and 2 feet, hit stepback 3s with a really fluid pickup motion, threw a 1-handed push pass off the bounce with some zip on it to an open teammate under the rim, hit 2 dribble pull-ups, did a great job of attacking closeouts to finish past the opponent at the rim, and showed a nice bag of finishing moves and pivots around the basket to score over or just past the defense. He’s really worked on his body to be a more explosive downhill driver while maintaining the touch on his shots in and around the basket that require elite finesse. Should be one of the biggest national stockrisers in the area this season.

20p 4r 2a 1b 3s vs GME
-The most complete performance I’ve seen out of Terrell as he served as a dynamic playmaker for Museum in a nice win over GME. Terrell started it off hot with an and1 lay through contact, hit his defender with an in n out before cashing out a 3, finished an alley lob in transition, hit his defender with another in n out into the finger roll off glass AND1, and drove it straight down the lane for a nice layup in traffic off the BLOB pass from the top of the key. Loved his tenacity on the ball defensively as he did a great job of fighting over screens and coming away with steals. Very interested to see where the ’27 guard ends up transferring to as he will add a nice play-making guard that can be effective in any role.

I enjoyed seeing Malachi perform in his minutes with Gonzaga at Summer Madness League. He used his scoring prowess well to create flow for the offense. Made some hockey assists and played solid defense. He was active every time he stepped on the floor and never wasted his minutes. It was nice to see Malachi contribute effectively in other aspects than scoring. While he produced in other ways, his team played better and his offense became easier. Has the potential to become one of the most coveted guards in the area during this next year and a half.

Polished scoring guard that already has a pretty deep bag on the offensive end of the floor. Shifts gears well while taking care of the rock in the halfcourt, getting his shoulders underneath his matchup to blow past them to beat them to the spot. Dribble pickup is smooth on pull-ups and he’s starting to hit off-balance looks from all 3 levels. Needs to take more pride in the defensive end and harness that quickness to lock up opponents to make him a more versatile two-way prospect.
