slots in at #43 in the October Rankings Update. He is a guard I continue to be high on. He’s shown positive signs of development over the last 6 months, steadily improving his jumper and becoming more confident running different offenses as a true Point Guard. Ulmer was picked to the 2A Region 1 Preseason All-Region Team and will play a key role in Pendleton’s success as a team heading into the season.

. Ulmer could make a real push for an All-Region honor in his sophomore season, and Pendleton is a team I’m high on in 2A. Madyx can be a dynamic playmaker in either backcourt position, but I’m betting on him to be one of the better Point Guards in the Upstate before he heads off to college.

rounds out the playmakers to know from the Sizzlin’ Summer Shootout. By my count, Ulmer went for 9 assists in an early-morning matchup with Blacksburg, and he had several more assist-worthy passes. Madyx’s first three assists got Pendleton’s best shooter going, and then he did a good job of spreading the ball out and getting all of his teammates involved as the game went by and the lead grew larger. Ulmer also has an excellent feel for getting in passing lanes, which is especially helpful at the top of an aggressive 2-3 zone that the Bulldogs run.

Like a few others in this list, Madyx only falls because of the volume of players added to the rankings. Ulmer has impressed at a couple of events in the spring, and he is high up on my list of guys to watch in person in June and July. Madyx has a unique feel for scoring the ball himself or setting up a teammate for a shot.

Ulmer split time between Varsity and Junior Varsity this season, but it felt like he became a player the upperclassmen could trust as the basketball became more important, particularly when he was hitting shots and bought in defensively. Madyx is in good hands at Next Level Elite , so I’m eager to check him out during the AAU Season.
