In a big time battle between OCC powerhouses, Upper Arlington got a hard-fought win over New Albany in a game that was tight throughout. Mitchell did a nice job scoring as a spot-up shooter, attacking closeouts and in the pick and roll. Mitchell does a nice job on step backs by creating contact with his defender before getting the space to fire away. I also really liked how Mitchell used his left hand to finish at the rim, a guard you cannot force one direction off the dribble. The Golden Bears had a great weekend with wins over conference rival Olentangy Orange and New Albany.
The chemistry between Mitchell and Henry is clear as the pair understand how to create easy buckets for each other. It was Mitchell making smart cuts and Henry finding him on time that led to a handful of layups for the 2027 guard. Mitchell also has the ability to score out of isolation situations and make spot-up shots behind the 3-point line.
A knockdown perimeter shooter on an Upper Arlington squad that returns a majority of their core, Mitchell could be set for a breakout Junior season after starting to get on the radar in central Ohio this winter. I was impressed with the floor spacing he provided and he showed some ability as a secondary ball handler next to a guy like Hayden HenryHaydenHenry

in the Golden Bears back-court. Hoping to see some physical progression as well from Mitchell this off-season, adding strength could take his game to the next level as well.
One of the best shooters in central Ohio’s 2027 class, Mitchell was making it rain on Saturday morning with two huge 3-pointers in the fourth quarter. He also knocked down an early 3-pointer and had a mid-range pull-up as well early in the game. As Mitchell matures and becomes an upperclassmen, I’ll be looking for him to fill out physically and round out his game. It’s impressive he’s having a large impact as a shooting specialist already under the bright lights of playoff basketball.
Mitchell is a sophomore who had a huge impact on getting Upper Arlington the win. He hit a couple of big-time threes in the second half that gave UA a big lead and a ton of momentum. There was a point in the game when the teams were going back and forth like a heavy-weight fight and Mitchell’s shooting was delivering the biggest hits. He played with great energy and motor. Impressive catch and shooter from deep range.
One of the more consistent scorers and players in fall league to this point, Mitchell has been steady in his performance week in and week out. A talented shooter from the outside, Mitchell has always caught our eye with that ability. I’ve been impressed with the growth he’s made as a ball handler and getting quicker as well. Expect to see Mitchell making a big impact for Upper Arlington this winter at the varsity level as the Golden Bears look to compete in the toughest OCC Division.
Elevated into a starting role for the Golden Bears this month, Mitchell is adjusting well as just a rising Sophomore to the varsity stage. Known as an excellent perimeter shooter, Mitchell knocked down shots off the catch at a high percentage this weekend. Also making some plays in the paint, Mitchell had a sweet reverse layup and a couple and-1’s as well. Upper Arlington has the talent to take that next step and Mitchell could emerge as a key piece of that puzzle.
MR22 Elite had multiple high school teammates on their roster. With two players from Upper Arlington (including Mitchell) and two players from Columbus DeSales playing key roles, the chemistry was easy to see with this group. Mitchell impressed me defensively with smart digs and gambles to force turnovers. On the offensive end, Mitchell hit two huge 3-pointers down the stretch to take the lead which included a big shot off a DHO from the top of the key. Upper Arlington has a lot of young talent in their program and could be an improved team in 2024-25 thanks to guys like Mitchell.
