Palermo, a forward out of the St. Mark’s School in Massachusetts, wrapped up an impressive junior season by earning the Class B Large Co-Player of the Year. Palermo formed one half of the league’s top duo and played an instrumental role in St. Mark’s quest to capture the Class B Large title. Thr 6’7″ forward averaged over 18 points and 9 rebounds per game this winter, scoring in double figures in 26 of his 28 games played. He’s ultra efficient as a scorer, has terrific footwork in the low post, and shows touch as a scorer in the mid-post. He can make plays as a handler out of DHO actions, does a nice job of making plays from the elbows, and can really rebound the ball in traffic. He’ll run this spring and summer with BABC on the 3SSB circuit.

If Palermo wanted to score the ball every time, he would probably average more points than he does. But he’s surrounded by Cj Farrell,

, Alex Echevarria, and others, so he has found a nice balance between scoring and passing. He’s a traditional low post threat and has awesome touch with his right and left hand, but he can also step out on the perimeter and play the DHO game that has become so common with mobile bigs. Palermo and St. Mark’s are the favorites to win Class B Large, and they would be my pick as well, especially after battling back from an early deficit to Brooks yesterday.

Palermo is an awesome big man to watch. He isn’t the most athletic or jumpy, but he uses his wide frame to carve out space near the hoop and effortlessly finishes in the paint against anyone. He has great touch with both hands, and his craft and strength allow him to get shots off against taller forwards and centers. I really love the way Palermo operates in the high post and as a DHO hub — he has awesome vision and really understands how to screen and use his body. He should be a star for St. Marks this season and would really improve his recruitment if he was able to step out and hit threes.

Palermo, a skilled forward out of St. Mark’s School in Massachusetts, is a tough two-way rebounder that has a good understanding of angles and positioning. He makes high IQ plays on both ends of the floor, proving to be a willing ball-mover that can initiate offense from the high post and short corners. He knows how to score with his back to the basket, does a nice job of passing when the double comes, and can finish through contact at the rim. Defensively, he uses his frame and physicality to his advantage as a rebounder in the paint.
