Aside from simply having heard the name, Mollenkopf was not a prospect that we were very familiar with ahead of Friday’s All-Star game. However, he quickly caught our attention and ended up as one of the top performers of the day. The 6’1″ left-handed guard from Caston High School had his jump shot working both from beyond the arc and in the mid-range while also showing off a little bit of playmaking ability for others. He went on to finish with a team-high 20 points to go along with 3 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Mollenkopf was an intriguing perimeter prospect out of Caston High School at the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The 6’1″ guard routinely got into the teeth of the defense playing off of two feet in the paint. He used his strength and physicality to play through contact consistently and finished at a high percentage against size. Mollenkopf was very effective using his left hand around the basket.
