Sanford is another member of 3SSB’s Upward Stars that stood out on their home floor at the Phenom Challenge this weekend. Lawrence is lightning quick with the ball in his hands and a nightmare for defenders to keep in front. He is very good with the ball in his hands in transition, but can create in the half-court as well. He stood out in particular against Team KST 17U on Sunday, scoring 9 points and chipping in on defense with 2 blocks and a steal.

‘s performance at the first ever Wood Elite Showdown was one for the books. Sanford went for 40 points, the third time he’s reached that mark this season. Lawrence has the total scoring package. He’s incredibly quick with his handle and can stop and pop in a split second. Sanford’s speed and athleticism in the open floor can turn fastbreaks into breakaway dunks. In addition to his 40 points, Sanford also posted 11 rebounds. He currently holds offers from South Florida, Kennesaw State, and Georgia State.

Up from No. 12: Electrifying scorer. Changes speeds well when attacking the basket. Finds points from all three levels with the ability to isolate on the perimeter and create space for his jump shot. Multiple 40-point games already under his belt this season.

is now the man at Cherokee after they graduated most of last year’s team and he’s flourishing with the green light. He’s already gone for 40+ points on two different occasions this year. Lawrence is an extremely twitchy ball-handler, utilizing his quick burst and deep bag of dribble combos to break down defenders and get to his spots. He can fill it up from all three levels and I expect that we’ll see more eye-popping stat lines this season. Currently holds offers from South Florida, Kennesaw State, and Georgia State.

separated himself and emerged as one of the top players in attendance. Sanford shined during both the skill work stations and 5v5, showcasing a unique combination of athleticism and creativity at the rim. While we’ve been aware of Sanford’s volume scoring ability for months, we’ll occasionally catch flashes of what he can do as a passer too.

has been a hot name lately after upping his stock tremendously this spring and then putting up some gaudy scoring numbers in June. He’s a lethal scorer, constantly pressuring defenses with crossovers, blow-bys, and spin moves. Holds offers from South Florida, Georgia State, and Kennesaw State.

is coming off of a huge spring campaign and continues to rise in stock, one of the hottest prospects in the state right now. Cherokee’s 2023 class is now out the door and the show is Sanford’s to run. He exploded for 34 on Saturday in an impressive win over Pebblebrook. He’s got a bag of moves that make him nearly impossible to stay in front of, a deadly spin move off penetration. With offers from Georgia State and Kennesaw State under his belt, Sanford is likely to add to that list in June.

Lawrence Sanford was one of the brightest young stars to emerge in this year’s playoffs, especially after a semi-final win over Norcross in which Sanford stole the show. He has an artful way of breaking down defenders and blowing past them. Silky smooth in transition and has some intriguing bounce too. Sanford can play either guard position effectively but should have an opportunity to show more of what he can do as a true point guard this spring with Wood Elite.
