About Landon

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a very diverse player. I can play the 1-3 positions. In school I mostly play SG, but in AAU I played PG. I’m a pest on defense and can shoot in the paint or shoot the 3 from different spots on the court. I have elite passing skills and strong ball handling skills as well. My high basketball IQ helps me manage the pace of the game and see the court well to set my teammates up to score.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m a good team player and usually lead with assists or have a lot of assists. I like being able to help the team score anyway possible by seeing the court and a player open. I can also help slow things down to reset when it starts getting fast and out of control.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am a member of Kappa League. This is my 4th year. It is a mentoring and leadership program facilitated by the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity to teach young men about leadership and community service.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve learned to collaborate with others and to contribute to society, especially for those less fortunate. I also learned about working in committees and being responsible for specific tasks as part of a whole.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

When I was in middle school I was heavier set and I used to get teased but through growth and physical activity I got thinner and then I grew taller. Now, I’m taller and thinner than most of my friends.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can contribute and get playing time in my first two years (or by Junior year at a higher Division school), and develop as a player. I hope to be in a D2 or smaller school where I can also focus on school work and hopefully have smaller class sizes. I’m open to PWO also. I plan to earn a degree in Business, Sports Management or Sports Communications.

It’s always a joy to watch a young man that puts we over me. McKinney is willing to do the things and play the roles that may not show up in the stat sheet. He does these things, all while carrying what I believe is next level talent.
