He is also the team’s best on-ball defender, and that’s where he’ll certainly need to stand out in this game as a guy who can speed you up. Eagle Ridge Academy will have its hands full as it’s up against a loaded Timnath squad, but Burks gives them a chance with the way that he’s been playing lately. Burks stands out as a true combo guard who can impact the game in a variety of ways. He has a feel for the game, showing great balance between scoring and facilitating. He’s constantly surveying the floor, reading defenses and making the right pass to set up easy baskets. Offensively he’s a smooth and efficient scorer who can hurt opponents from anywhere. He’s lethal from beyond the arc, consistent off the catch, and uses a quick controlled dribble pull up to get to his spots and create his own shot. What makes Burks valuable is his composure and that he plays under control, doesn’t force the game and elevates the play of those around him. With his offensive skill set and growing confidence, Burks is quickly making a strong push in the rankings
