Expert Analysis

Delves was one of the best athletes I saw this entire weekend. The lefty is only 6-foot-1, but he’s tantalizing when he takes off in the paint. With either his right or left hand, he can elevate and finish strong dunks over the defense, but he also has nice touch off the glass if a rim protecting big is present. Most impressive was Delves’ ability to find open teammates and make the right rim reads once he touched the paint. The 2028 is getting scholarship looks after this weekend’s live period, and he should continue to get more as he performs for a talented Mt. St. Charles squad this season, especially if he develops a more consistent outside jumper.

Delves has an outstanding feel for the game and consistently displays a strong pulse whenever he steps onto the floor. Time and time again, he puts his teammates in positions to succeed, delivering the ball to the right spots and creating easy scoring opportunities. He is also a threat to score inside the arc, finding a variety of ways to string together points and operating almost like an artist when creating offense. I really like how he turns the corner in the half-court and remains composed under pressure, never allowing defenders to speed him up. Delves does an excellent job controlling the tempo with the ball in his hands and making smart decisions throughout the game. He also contributes on the glass, showing a willingness to rebound and impact the game in multiple facets. His blend of poise, playmaking, and scoring ability makes him a highly effective floor general.

Delves is an ambidextrous point guard who throws off defenders with his ability to attack you in every which way. The 6-foot-1 sophomore is super smart for his age and has great passing vision and unselfishness—he consistently found shooters for open shots on Saturday. But when he needs to take over, he can. The lefty can stroke it from three, but he also has great quickness and athleticism and can make floaters and layups with both hands comfortably. He has a very bright future ahead.

Delves seems to be nearing close to 6-foot-4 now, which makes his ability to see the floor as well as rise over the top of defenders on his pull-up even more dangerous than it was before. His scoring prowess was on full display Sunday when he went for 28 points in a game prior to be voted in for the Top-30 Cream of the Crop Game. He needs little separation to get into his jumper and his unwavering confidence forces his defender to be on his p’s and q’s at all times or else Delves can quickly turn a tight game into a comfortable lead for his team. Savvy, efficient, and fluid are words I’d use to describe the top combo guard in New England for the 2028 class.

Delves is a jumbo guard who has the ability to make a play whenever he has the ball in his possessions. He does a nice job getting paint touches on the attack. Delves has the ability to make shots and needs to be on opposing teams radars. If you give Delves an inch he will take a mile. He is a prospect who should be on division one radars.

-Really explosive guard that really gave the Warriors’ fullcourt press the blues, splitting double teams in the zone press to create efficient looks for his team at the other end. Loved his blend of speed and ball skills in the open floor, those skills coupled with a really competitive edge make him a difficult cover. Delves makes up for a relative lack of size with above-the-rim athleticism on several one-handed spikes in transition and off of backdoor cuts. Love his timing to allow ball screens to develop before getting to his spots in the halfcourt. Not difficult to see how he holds the top spot in 2028 for NE.

Perhaps the most productive freshman in the entire NEPSAC while steering the ‘AA’ upstart Mounties, Delves has been off to a dominant start this grassroots season with his TNE team sporting an undefeated record. Knocking off yet another sneaker team on Sunday, “Bright” was his usual dynamic self, attacking off the bounce relentlessly using an enticing blend of skill, athleticism, and savvy. While known for his flashy exploits playing above the rim, his biggest intrigue as a prospect comes by way of the subtle and unteachable high-feel plays that Delves makes routinely on both ends in the floor game. You’ll be hard pressed find a better rising sophomore guard in New England at this stage.
