Despite being a lower volume distance shooter, he is very very efficient when he does decide to take them. Plata operates with unbelievable control with the basketball in his hands and does a great job using angles to create offense for himself at the basket. Plata continues to prove himself as a producer and a winner at the PG position in NC’s 2027 class and should start to see more recruiting interest as Southern Wake looks to embark on a state championship run.

When locked in Kobe Plata Kobe Plata 5'10" | PG Southern Wake Academy | 2027 State NC is just as good as any 2027 PG in the state. He runs a team as good as most, can score or distribute at a high level, and takes the initiative to guard the other team’s primary ball handler on most nights. He led his team in 4 of the 5 major categories during the event and looks to be the driving force at Southern Wake returning to the state championship.

Before being ejected with two technical fouls midway through the second quarter Kobe was on pace for a big game. He exited the game with 14 of his team’s 24 points and a few assists as well. He had a couple of tough finishes at the rim knocked down a handful of jump shots from the perimeter, showing the variety in which he can score the basketball. He checks the boxes for what you look for in a lead guard and is one of the top 2027 point guards in the state.

SWA graduated a boatload of talent from last season’s 1A State runner up, but the steady point guard was one of the few returners. A natural passer who excels with the ball in his hands showed some more rounded ability as a scorer during the event. Southern Wake will look a lot different as compared to last season and their PG will be a big part of their success.

Despite his team coming up short in their matchup with New Bern HS, he displayed some impressive skills and upside that will have college coaches dropping in to see him over the next few years. He can score the ball at a high level off the catch or off the dribble and is a multiple level scorer that can be effective as a PG or SG.

Plata holds the top spot at the point guard position in the latest 2027 rankings market corrections out of Southern Wake Academy. He averaged 12.5 points, 5.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 steals per game in his sophomore year as the Lions made an appearance in the NCHSAA 1A State Championship Game. He’s set to make a splash with Garner Road on the adidas 3SSB stage this grassroots season

Plata is another point guard prospect in the 2027 class who’s fared well at Southern Wake Academy. He’s dished out over 100 assists this season and is averaging 5.3 assists per contest, up from 3.6 during his freshman year, to continue to show off his development as both a scorer and playmaker for the Lions. He’s a floor general with a bright future ahead of him as time progresses.

Plata showed off his prowess in more ways than one rebounding, scoring and defending the ball, despite the result for Southern Wake Academy. He recorded 15 points, eight rebounds, three steals and two assists to showcase his all-around abilities at the point guard spot. As he continues to showcase what he can do, look for his recruitment to grow.

Brings a level of leadership for his team that you don’t normally see from a player that is only in his sophomore season. He got his team into their offensive set, applied constant pressure on the defensive end, set up teammates for easy scores and played a clean overall game to help lead his team to a win.
