An aggressive slasher who looks to put pressure on the rim, Patterson was aggressive in hunting driving angles and demonstrated a good understanding of reading timing on help defense— using change of direction dribbles to attack the basket and finish at the rim in isolation or maintaining his court vision to make the extra pass on baseline drives or hitting the dunker spot on paint touches, all while showing a level of comfort attacking with his off hand. Patterson’s motor also translated into impact on the offensive glass where he crashed the boards the effort and energy and generated a number of second chance possessions.

Patterson is one of the more intriguing prospects in the class with his combination of size, length and athleticism. The 6’4 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he finishes strong above the rim and is able to draw contact in the paint. Patterson rises up with confidence on his jumper and moves well without the ball in his hands. He is an underrated passer and has the length to defend multiple positions on the floor. Patterson is a lanky guard prospect who should make plays at both ends of the floor throughout the course of the season.
