Kaleb was showing flashes of a prime Russell Westbrook on Monday night, putting up 41 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists to lead his team to a triple overtime win over Kenosha Tremper. The senior guard threw down a nasty putback dunk right over a defender, showcased his range beyond the arc, and was dangerous getting into the lane and dumping it off to his bigs around the rim. Kaleb has a strong frame that will help him adapt at the college level next season, with explosiveness around the basket that you don’t often find at the high school level.

Colbert swished the first three-point shot of the game, hit another four triples before intermission and finished with 33 points in helping Golda Meir past Lake Country Classical. In addition to his five three-point baskets, Colbert had five dunks in the contest. His explosiveness around the basket is as impressive as his ability to score from deep and off the bounce. A solid student who is being recruited by schools at the NCAA Division II and III levels, Colbert is the son of Golda Meir coach Emmitt Colbert. His leadership, toughness, physicality and ability to make big plays should help Golda Meir all season.

Kaleb may have been the most impressive athlete I saw all weekend. The 6′ point guard can absolutely jump out of the gym, and it showed as he threw down back to back dunks to start things off against Pro One Select on Saturday. The Golda Meir guard cut backdoor for an alley-oop dunk on the opening possession, and then stole the ball for another dunk right after. He gets after it defensively, using that lateral quickness to be an absolute pest on the ball. Someone who doesn’t need to score much to make an impact on the game, as he’s going to provide a ton of energy on the defensive end.

Kaleb really impressed me with his physical tools, as the 6-foot guard has a built frame and high flying athleticism. He ran the point for his team, showing off his facilitating abilities, creating for teammates and himself. He used his strength to work around defenders and get downhill, where he had many different finishes he could go to. Colbert can defend the perimeter at a high level, being more than capable of picking up full court.

Previous Ranking: 161
New Ranking: 39
Colbert’s ascent up the rankings is due to his impressive talent, but also to the fact he has become a more visible player in his class. He had a very good club season with Kevon Looney Power 5 and then performed exceptionally well at the Prep Hoops Fall Showcase in Appleton. His athleticism is off the charts and his explosiveness off the bounce also is a big plus for the Golda Meir point guard. Colbert figures to rise even further up the rankings in the future, particularly if he can show he can consistently knock down perimeter shots. Colbert averaged 16.6 points and 5.0 rebounds as a sophomore, helping Golda Meir to a 13-12 record under the guidance of coach/father, Emmitt Colbert.

Colbert showcased his bounce throughout the expo. His next level athleticism was apparent with multiple dunks in traffic. He also finished a few emphatic dunks with contact. Team 2 also benefited from his ability to bother ball handlers in the full court.

Simply, I have Colbert down as the best player I saw at The Expo: Wisconsin. He did it all. Quick hands and tenacity on defense, unselfish distributor, crafty passer, can score at all three levels, hustle, court awareness, you name it. Oh, and he had three highlight-worthy dunks in this game and another one I saw later in the evening (two hand, one hand, reverse, over the defender). He has exceptional athleticism and a great demeanor on the floor.

Colbert was definitely one of the most impressive players at the Expo. The sturdy 6-foot-0 point guard picked up his opponent in the backcourt and hounded him while getting into a goods stance on defense. And on offense, the super explosive backcourt prospect used his burst to get around defenders. He had several crowd-pleasing two-handed dunks and ran his team with precision. Colbert is a returning starter for an up-and-coming Golda Meir program, and he is coming off a strong spring/summer with the ABC Young Lions .
