About Juan

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I see myself as playing in whatever role that will benefit the team and contribute to winning the most. If you need me to score, I can create my own basket, if you need me to be a facilitator and get others going, I can do that. I play hard on defense, I can and will guard 90 feet. I will always do the important, not flashy things, like rebound, talk on D and hustle.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I play at an even level mindset. I don’t let anything or anyone get into my head. I believe I am the type of leader who will encourage the team and also be the guy that will step up, be accountable for my own mistakes first, and also help my teammates learn from their mistakes through constructive communication, even when those talks are difficult.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in Interact club, which is a community service club at my school and is associated with our local Rotery Club. We participate in community service projects, and my favorite is when we get to interact with our local elementary school kids.I have received an academic letter for each year in high school. I am a member of the National Honor Society

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed the skill of being comfortable with public speaking and being a leader to my peers. Even as an underclassmen, my teammates saw me as a leader. I have been on many teams in my life but not only sports teams. I have a part-time job which has improved my understanding of teamwork, responsibility and time management. I give back to my community through interact club.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Being a smaller player all my life, I have always believed I needed to work harder than everyone else. Nothing was handed to me or given. My parents taught me very young that we don’t make excuses, we find what we love and we prioritize our life to work hard for what we want.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college experience that will help teach me lessons for life and set me up for it. I also want a college to continue to expand my comfort zone and interact with new people from different places and life experiences.

His ability to rise over defenders, whether spotting up or off the dribble, makes him a tough cover. With his fast trigger and range, Juan consistently stretches defenses and opens up scoring lanes for his team.
