Josiah is an efficient scorer who can fill it up in a hurry without needing a high volume of shots. He makes the most of his touches, consistently converting opportunities with smart shot selection and a natural scoring instinct. Whether it’s attacking gaps, finishing around the rim, or knocking down open looks, he produces points quickly and keeps the offense flowing. His ability to generate scoring bursts with limited attempts makes him a valuable and impactful presence on the floor.

Morales had a great season for Classen SAS in which he averaged 14.1 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He has a very quick release and features unlimited range from beyond the arc. Josiah shows good awareness also on both ends of the floor. He routinely spaces the floor and relocates well as teammates drive to the basket. Defensively, he has quick hands to compliment his feet. Morales knows when to help and also digs down well on post defenders. His biggest room for growth will be as a passer with a more ball dominant role at times with Mvmnt 17U.

Based on today, the Comets have a case for one of the top shooting duos in the state. Morales joined Williamson in absolutely torching the nets. He has range that extends to 25+ feet, and makes it look effortless. Especially for a smaller guard. Also carved up John Marshall off the bounce. Pull up jumpers and floaters in the halfcourt. Made it all the way to the rim in transition. Sharp shooting floor general, who is playing with the confidence of an upperclassman. And looks to have propelled the Comets in the 5A State Tournament conversation.

The Comets have been making waves in 5A, especially with the production of a pair of their transfers. But in last week’s win over Newcastle, it was Morales who was the difference. He’s been bombing threes for SAS since his freshman year. And it was no different when he hit 7 three pointers in that win. The junior guard was in his bag with deep off the dribble threes. Some had to be near 30 footers. Was unbothered by hands in his face. Finished with 27 points in that victory.

Morales remains a marksman from deep. Made it rain from the jump and was at the controls of a comfortable win for his Movement squad. His range extends fully to 25+ feet, providing gravity for himself and his teammates. The rising sophomore guard is a strong mix of scoring flurries (often from three) and also pushing the tempo and setting the table. Continues to play with the savviness of older guards.

Heady lead guard who came alive in the second half with a scoring spurt of threes and tough driving. Continues to be an exciting player to watch in transition with the pace he plays at and the ability to either pull up from deep, get to the rim and make big time pass. Hope to see more development of his game in the halfcourt, including becoming more of a vocal leader for SAS.

Good poise playing up against older competition. Drives with the purpose to set up teammates with good accurate passing to open shooters along the perimeter. Has flair in transition with speed and vision to set up teammates, or find the gaps to score himself. A plus shooter, with range off the dribble that is comfortable a few feet beyond on the arc. Really thrives in the up and down nature of summer ball. Looks to have grown a couple inches, should be ready for a bigger role this winter for Classen SAS.

played with great instincts and a feel for the game that made him the best player of the floor. He proved to be a gifted facilitator who saw every open teammate and hit them in a precise and timely manner, zipping passes through tight windows often after an offensive rebound or as the defense shifted. Crafty finisher at the rack, quick to go up-and-under defenders after baiting them into jumping with him. He also cuts hard and with the purpose to score off the catch. Another aspect his game that I loved was the that fact that anytime Morales made a mistake of offense he quickly sprinted down the floor to make up for it on the defensive end.

In a couple of varsity viewings, Morales has popped as a change of pace guard with great range on his jumper. He’s already comfortable spotting up a few steps beyond the three point line. While bringing good quickness and overall intensity on both ends of the court. He may be on the shorter side, but Morales has some of the traits that are often found in “heart over height” guards.

A heady lead guard, Morales is quick and active on both ends of the court He has outstanding range on his jumper, and can use that to stretch out the defense. The Classen SAS guard also plays with his head on a swivel as a creator for his teammates.
