Everybody knows about the trio of Division I commits in Richmond Heights senior class but Emory is a name that’s flown under the radar until this season. A tough undersized off guard who defends, makes shots and attacks closeouts, you really can’t ask for much more from him. With some recent scoring explosions against Sandusky and Harvest Prep, Emory continues to impress as the Spartans play through their difficult regular season schedule.

Emory had a massive weekend with a 32 point performance in a win at Sandusky and another strong showing against Harvest Prep in another marquee victory for the Spartans. Emory is a quick guard who can knockdown shots off the catch and attack closeouts off the dribble. Working well off the Division I talent Richmond Heights has, Emory can push the pace either as a primary ball handler or a runner streaking down the court to score in transition. When the Spartans are forced to play in the half-court, Emory had a couple nice cuts that led to easy shots as well. If Richmond Heights is going to defend their crown one last time, they’ll need this type of performance from Emory in the playoffs.

Richmond Heights ran Kettering Alter out the gym in a battle of defending state champions. Emory made an impact offensively with the confidence to let it fly from downtown without hesitation. Another area where Richmond Heights thrived was pushing the ball in transition after defensive rebounds or steals and Emory had a couple leakout layups where he got behind the defense. Emory’s best sequence of the day came when he got a steal and kicked it to a shooter who missed, Emory got the offensive rebound and the ball was swung back to him where he hit a 3-pointer. A name to watch as Richmond Heights will play a small ball style of play all season after graduating their size in the paint.
