Short did a really good job making this NC Spartans team click on the offensive end of the floor. Short has a smooth game where he sees the floor at a high level and operates at a high level of understanding in regards to calling his own number when needed. Short touches the paint with consistency and does a good job keeping his dribble alive, avoiding getting stuck in bad spots. Short has a great mid-range/floater game along with touch beyond the three point line. He just makes teams better with his presence, helping bridge the gap between the coaching staff and the rest of the roster. Expect Short to continue establishing himself as a bonafide next level talent with the NC Spartans this summer.

Short looked like one of the more reliable lead guards in the building all weekend. He controlled tempo well, kept the offense organized, and consistently made smart decisions with the ball. What stood out most was his poise late in possessions and his ability to balance scoring with facilitating without forcing the action.

Short narrowly missed out on cracking the top 100 in what appears to be one of the deeper classes in terms of overall next level talent that I’ve seen in North Carolina in quite some time. Short is a really smart point guard that plays the game with a great pace + the capability of taking the game over with his scoring when needed. With a great feel for the game, Short always appears to be one step ahead of the defense with his eyes and that leads to the benefit of his teammates who often get timely and accurate passes from him for easy baskets. At Bishop McGuinness this season, Short averaged 10.6 Points, 3.4 Rebounds, 3.3 Assists, and 1.9 Steals per game with 47/27/68 splits. I fully expect Short to have a good chance at rising through the rankings, especially if he can show progress as a long range shooter heading into his 17u summer!

Short is a “pest” at the point-of-attack who thrives on turning steals into transition opportunities. He currently leads his team in both assists (3.3 APG) and steals (1.9 SPG). During a victory over South Davidson, Short’s ball pressure was the catalyst for a defensive unit that held the opponent to just 12 points. He is a fast, high-IQ lead guard who provides stability and vocal leadership for one of the region’s top programs.

A new face in the Bishop McGuinness backcourt who should improve their leadership; speedy off the bounce with a high IQ, he’s a dangerous combination to have on the floor given his ability to make things happen; not the biggest guard out there but makes up for it with his impact on the hardwood

Short is a fundamentally sound point guard prospect to know out of Greensboro Day School. He was part of the Bengals NCISAA 3A State Championship squad this past season. He’s a prospect with AWigg Elite to keep eyes on given his penchant for making plays with the ball in his hands. He’s shown he’s capable of knocking down shots with efficiency as well as making things happen in the open floor with his pace/quickness.
