Jaylen Sturdivant
About Jaylen
Expert Analysis
Charles Clark | Prep Hoops Scout
A Guard that can score the ball from the perimeter at a very high level, he doesn’t need much space to get his shot off and knocks down shots from beyond college three-point range. JUCO programs that are looking for a player that can come into their program and provide scoring from Day 1 should give him a call.

Sturdivant is a combo guard that can do a little of everything on the court. Offensively, he can shoot the ball with range out to deep. He has good mechanics and a quick release. Defensively, he is good lateral quickness and gets his share of steals and deflections.

In his first game back at Hoke County HS, he came up clutch for his team to lead them to a win after trailing in the fourth quarter. He knocked down some big-time shots from the perimeter and stepped up to the free throw line down the stretch of the game to convert. You have to love a player that seems to embrace these types of moments and that’s what you will see from Jaylen.

Sturdivant is a prospect who continues to climb up the 2024 rankings and looms just outside the Top 100 at 113 out of over 300 ranked names. He remains a solid guard/wing prospect given his size for DIII programs to keep an eye on as he heads to Hoke County High to close out his high school career. He put up 17.5 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 2.4 SPG and 2.0 APG while knocking down 62 3-pointers as a junior this past year at Red Springs High in the NCHSAA 2A Southeastern Conference. He’s an aggressive guard with nice range and a knack for scoring with and without the ball in his hands. He’ll look to make a splash in the 3A/4A Sandhills Conference to show off his growth as a two-way presence on the floor. Dean College has offered him.

Sturdivant was quite the backcourt presence this past season at Red Springs High. He’s a strong-framed guard at 6-foot-4 who can hold his own on both ends of the floor. He finished his junior season with 17.5 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 2.4 SPG and 2.0 APG on 62 made 3-pointers this past season. Look for him to be a leader in the Hoke High backcourt in 2023-24.

A natural scorer that can score the ball from all three levels, he provided a high amount of offense for New Life Christian in their morning matchup with New Bern. He doesn’t need much space to get his shot off, can knock down shots consistently from NBA range, and is a player that college coaches should add to their list.

is certainly ranked too low by our own admission, but he’s due to have a busy summer on the recruiting scene as an emerging combo guard prospect out of Hoke High. He’s another 2024 prospect who’s improved his body tremendously since last viewing. He made a clean sweep of the awards at this year’s Fab40 ENC Showcase, taking home the championship, MVP and 3-Point Contest awards when it was all said and done. He’s a prospect that can knock down shots with range off the bounce and make things happen off the bounce in the open floor. He’ll be a name to keep an eye on with Sandhills Machine AAU program so long he keeps showing off his improvement on both ends of the floor.

Continues to prove that he is a prospect that should be on the radar of college coaches sooner than later, this young man simply knows how to put the ball in the bucket at a high level. He has range on his shot from beyond the college three-point line but also understands how to get to his spots from midrange and score at a high level as well. He took home the three-point contest championship as well as being named the All-Star Game MVP.

The Red Devils will look to him to provide some perimeter scoring which is always needed when you’re looking to pull off an upset on the road. He has the ability to knock down shots from deep range at a high level and once he sees a few shots drop, he can quickly go for a high number of points.
