Continue ReadingIn his first game back at Hoke County HS, he came up clutch for his team to lead them to a win after trailing in the fourth quarter. He knocked down some big-time shots from the perimeter and stepped up to the free throw line down the stretch of the game to convert. You have to love a player that seems to embrace these types of moments and that’s what you will see from Jaylen.
Highlights
Despite facing all types of defensive matchups throughout the night and finishing below his normal scoring average, he still finds ways to make a high impact on the game and put his team in position to win. He has a very quick first step, outstanding range and the ability to finish in traffic at a nice rate.
Made a high impact on the game for his team in numerous areas but especially in rebounding the ball, finishing with a game high of 16 rebounds in the contest. He didn’t force things offensively, instead he made the correct plays for his team which led to high percentage shots for himself and teammates.

This young man will be one to keep a very close eye on this season as he looks to lead the Tornadoes to a state playoff run. He has all the tools to be a special prospect such as: Size, scoring ability and is extremely competitive every time he steps on the floor. In their matchup against Lumberton High, he scored 19 Points, while pulling down 9 Rebounds to lead his team to a win.

His shooting ability is the attribute that catches your attention almost immediately. He has outstanding range that stretches beyond the college three-point line and a quick release that does not require much time for him to get his shot off. Early on in their matchup with South Wake his shot was not falling but he stayed confident and hit some big shots down the stretch.

Provided some much-needed offensive production for his team especially in the second half, scoring a game high of 20 Points. He beat players off the dribble, knocked down shots from the perimeter and used his upper body strength to embrace contact when he got into the paint for buckets.

His stats simply don’t show how much of an impact that he made on this game for his team, especially in the first half. He made all of the small plays that often get overlooked such as: Crashing the offensive boards, coming up with deflections, playing solid defense against the opposing team leader scoring without fouling and forcing him into some tough shots.
Put together one of his better showings of the year, scoring 15 Points on the night while being constantly aggressive from start to finish. He didn’t settle for the outside shot too often but instead looked to get to the basket and score from midrange.
