Although more raw on the side at this point in his on court development, Jayden Porterfield Jayden Porterfield 6'3" | SF/PF Newark Tech | 2028 State NJ still impressed, showcasing the foundational potential he possesses as a lengthy wing with hints of fluidity to his game. New to this Newark Tech program and finding his footing amongst a new group, Porterfield still found different ways to be productive in his role and stood out in spurts— establishing himself as a capable threat from three point range, going up at the basket strong and not shying away from contact when attacking closeouts off the bounce, leveraging his length on the glass and being impactful on the boards, defending multiple positions with length, effort and energy, and even flashing some of his ability to initiate the break and making the right reads in the open floor.

A lengthy wing with smooth movement skills and natural scoring ability and hints of facilitating for others in his game, Jayden Porterfield stood out in the ways he was able to produce overall offense. Porterfield proved to be a solid overall playmaker— shot creation in the mid range area, attacking driving angles to get to the rim, keeping his vision when attacking paired with passing feel in the open floor. All while being just as impactful on the defensive end of the floor, leveraging his size and athleticism for key defensive stops.

Porterfield flashed throughout the day as he showed the ability to play either forward spot. The 6’3 forward used his quick first step to beat his defender off the bounce and showed a good touch around the rim. Porterfield used his size to see over his defender and held his ground on the defensive end. He also showed the ability to defend multiple positions on the floor and moved well without the ball in his hands. Porterfield is a lanky forward prospect who has the potential to have a monster 2025-26 season with his ability to make plays at both ends of the floor.
