Gathers was a key reason behind Ashley Ridge’s run to the state championship last season. Despite his size, Javion never has any issues running an offense at a high level. He is an excellent passer who makes all the players around him better every game, but he can also get a bucket for himself when he needs to. That will be needed more this season than last year, so expect the PPG numbers to rise for Gathers.

Gathers is certainly a pass-first style of PG, but he is also a high-level defensive playmaker and is capable of getting himself a bucket at the rim. Although they lose several crucial players next season, don’t expect the Silver Foxes to drop completely off the map because of what they return in Javion.

Gathers did a nice job of changing speeds and directions from out top today. Javion really likes to work in the bounce pass. He was table to touch the paint and get the ball into the gaps while dropping off passes with his left-hand. Gathers did a nice job of rolling off defenders to the buckets. The Swamp Foxes offense certainly runs through #5 out top.
