-Gifted athlete, few players can move like Unzen
-Middle drive, runner score, bank, high arcing, got it to fall
-Drilled a shot baseline J, pulled up over the D, great elevation
-Cashed a 3-ball from the right wing in the first half
-Fooled the D w/ a dirty behind-the-back move, dropped a dime to Colby
-Hit another triple, pull-up in transition
-Showed off the sprinter speed, no wonder he is an all-star football player
-Tip steal, forced the TO & scored on the other end
-Made another three in transition, money ball
-Three ball in the 4th, tough shot from deep, cut the lead to 4 points
-Another triple, cut the lead back to 4
-Hit some clutch shots when the Cavs really needed scores
Jase was a gamer at Battle At The Lakes. He made bigs plays offensively and electrifying defensive plays in end-of-game situations. He wasn’t afraid of the big moment and he took on the pressure with no sign of weakness. He wanted the ball when it mattered most against great teams. He looks fully recovered from injury. Shot the three well, got by defense to finish at the hoop. Great tournament and he seemed like the X-factor for Hoop City South Dakota
to beat really good teams in the midwest.
Unzen has returned from injury and helped Sioux Falls Jefferson take down Sioux Falls Washington for a bid to the state AA tournament. Unzen looked really good and I loved his approach to the game. He seemed more controlled and wasn’t in such of a hurry as he’s looked in the past. He’s able to get to his spots and into gaps without going full speed. He attacked and brought defensive help to then kick out to teammates for open jumpers. His three-ball looked good too and he was set and took makeable attempts. One of the top overall athletes in the state that would be higher up the board if not for his 5’10” size.
Unzen is a football stud as well as an explosive young guard in the state. His impact is higher than his ranking reflects, with his only recruitment question being his size. He can jump out of the gym, and I’m starting to notice his defensive impact.
