Jarius Dicks
About Jarius
Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Jarius made a decision to transfer to Lotus School for Excellence to finish out his high school career, and it was great to see him in a spot where he got to shine with the ball in his hands. He made the most of those opportunities when he made the biggest jump in points per game out of any player in the entire state. He had a +18 points per game increase; he filled it up every single night despite opposing teams’ game planning for him and showed that he has what it takes to lead a team. Dicks scored in double digits in every single game this year. He erupted for 30+ points on multiple occasions, he knocked down the 3-ball at a 42% clip on high volume, and he also found teammates, as well as averaging just under 4 assists a game, and was an All-State Honorable Mention. He’s an explosive PG who blows by defenders, he sets teammates up, and can score both in transition and in the half-court set. Solid end of his career and a player who rose in the rankings.

is a pest defending the perimeter, acquiring just under 5 SPG along with a crucial 22 PPG and 4.3 APG on the campaign. Dicks has plenty to be proud of this season, especially considering his exponential growth going from just 3.2 PPG last season and having doubled his minutes in his senior year. Dicks’ acceleration and quickness off the triple threat allow him to maneuver past defenses and kick to open shooters on offense. Look out for Dicks to turn up the heat in March too.

It’s wild what a change of scenery can do for a player. Jarius made the move and had possibly the biggest jump from a player on points per game. He made a 19 points per game jump and now has Lotus School for Excellence looking like a real contender. We saw the shift happen over the Fall when he came and dominated at a showcase, and he took that same confidence into the season. He’s one of the class’s top scorers, he’s lethal as an iso scorer that cannot be contained, and still runs the show as a lead point guard. He’s averaging 4 assists, and the biggest thing has been his work defensively. He’s at 5.2 steals a game which is top-5 in the class. He’s earned a rankings boost with his play, and we’re excited to see how he finishes off the season.

Jarius is rising fast at Lotus and quickly becoming one of the most dangerous guards in the area. Averaging 25.3 points, 5 assists, and 5.3 steals per game, he impacts the game on every possession. He plays with great vision and an unselfish, team first approach that makes everyone around him better. Offensively he’s lethal in the mid range and finishes through contact at the rim, while his defensive instincts create constant disruption and easy opportunities in transition

Dicks showed flashes as a creator early on in the day, dropping off passes and getting teammates involved in 3-on-3. He was the primary ball handler for the team and took the first half of the day to set the offense for others. In 5-on-5, he looked more alive and took control as he was pushing pace, finishing in transition, and knocking down shots as well. Jarius is a guard that defenders have a difficult time staying in front of. He has speed, gets downhill, and can finish. He capped the day by taking over in the last game as he finished in double digits and remained aggressive. I expect Jarius to have a solid senior season, and this was good to get on our radars.

Although undersized, the guard brings constant energy on both ends of the floor, comfortable at the varsity level. A dependable ball handler against pressure, he works hard to facilitate great looks for teammates within the halfcourt.

is always in passing lanes and causing havoc. Dicks is active on both ends of the floor and knows when to make basket cuts and when to space the floor as well.
