About Jarett
Expert Analysis
Steve Quattrocchi | Prep Hoops Scout
At 6’7″, Jarett has the size and skill to make a big impact this season in the 12th region. With the ability to face up and shoot or attack the rim, Simpson is best suited as a stretch 4 or face up 5 in college and should see some recruiting come his way to play at the next level.

Jarett is a handful to deal with in the paint. On offense, he has great touch around the rim and finishes very well through contact. His patience and pivoting skills are very unique for a player nowadays. For a big guy, Simpson has great hands. He does well catching entry passes, securing rebounds, and getting deflections on defense.

Simpson is a face up 4 man who can play some 5 when needed. Jarett is an excellent passer out of the high post area and is capable of knocking down open threes as well (he shot 40% from three). Simpson still needs to get more comfortable with physical play and become a more active rebounder to reach his ceiling but he continues to improve.

Jarett has some obvious skill and operates at his best as a face up big who is comfortable in the high post. Simpson is a little bit of a late bloomer who has a long way to go to reach his prospect ceiling.

One of the taller prospects in the region, Simpson is versatile as an inside-out player who has fluid shot mechanics and isn’t afraid to post up. He can also operate as a playmaker out of the high post. If Jarett has gotten stronger and more athletic, he can be a big time difference maker for Southwestern this season. There’s no reason that he shouldn’t average a double-double as a Junior.

Simpson possesses a well-rounded skill set. He can score inside over defenders and bury shots from 3-point range. If he draws help he dishes it to an open teammate. He crashes the boards and converts offense rebounds to extra possessions and points.

Simpson continues to improve as he gets more and more varsity experience this season. Averaging 11 points and 8 rebounds per game, Jarett has had a couple of double-doubles this season and will only get better as he adds bulk to his frame and gets more explosive.
