Jalen is another 1A standout who makes a leap in the rankings this month. Culp is slightly more gifted from a physical standpoint, listed at 6’0″ with a solid frame. He caught my eye in one of my weekly film reviews, but Jalen also has strong numbers on the season – 19.1 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, 3.3 assists per game, and 3.1 steals per game.

Although I didn’t get to see Jalen in person this season, I watched some of his film and was extremely impressed by the junior guard. He did it all for the Lions, putting up team highs in points per game (19.1), rebounds per game (5.2), assists per game (3.3), and steals per game (3.1) in a strong Class A Region.

Apart from some struggles at the line that kept McBee in it late and held him back from a 40-point night, Jalen had a spectacular performance in Lewisville’s Tuesday-night win. He went for 36 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals on 15-29 FG and 6-15 FT. The game-winner showed just what he does best – playing through contact with a head of steam towards the rim. The Panthers were unable to keep Culp out of the paint almost all game long, but even when they were, he effectively pulled up and knocked down mid-range jumpers. Jalen was also important on the defensive end of the floor, leading the Lions in rebounding and forcing turnovers on and off the ball. Keep an eye on Culp to make a leap up when the rankings are updated after the season.

Rounding out the 2027 Class 1A Fab 5 is Jalen Culp Jalen Culp 6'0" | PG Lewisville | 2027 State SC . He plays for Lewisville High School in 1A Region 2. Culp saw a good amount of the floor in his Freshman Year including a 25-Point performance when Prep Hoops saw him in a January Region Game. Jalen is quick off the dribble and excels in getting the basket. When he gets there, Culp is athletic in finishing and can do so with either hand.
