Expert Analysis
Kyle Sandy | Prep Hoops Scout
Mihalick remains one of the more intriguing unsigned prospects available. It’s surprising his offer sheet isn’t longer. He’s a perfect modern pick-and-pop candidate with legitimate three-point shooting ability. His perimeter touch forces opposing bigs to step away from the paint. Defensively, he’s effective playing atop a zone where his length bothers ball handlers and clogs passing lanes. Inside, he shows more skill than given credit for — turnaround jumpers, hooks and strong finishes when he establishes position. As he continues adding strength, his rebounding and post defense will only improve. Size combined with shooting always carries value, and Mihalick’s floor-spacing ability makes him a unique piece.

It’s a major challenge for defenses when the biggest player on the floor has a quick trigger and shoots with confidence. Give him any amount of space and he will make opponents pay. Jake is a unique 6’10” stretch big who can truly knock it down from deep, forcing opposing defenses to extend and adjust their coverage.
Beyond his shooting, Jake plays with a relentless motor and is very active on the glass at both ends of the floor. His length allows him to recover quickly when beaten off the dribble, and he provides strong rim protection by challenging and altering shots around the basket. His combination of size, shooting, and defensive activity makes him a difficult matchup on both ends.

At roughly 6-foot-10, Mihalick is an intriguing prospect who surprisingly isn’t swimming in offers yet with just a few D-III bids on his ledger. Jake is averaging 18.3 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 45% from three. He plays atop the zone, hindering guards with his length. Jake is a perfect pick-and-pop candidate with his jump shot. Adding more muscle onto his frame will help him in the post. He is still effective inside however, able to sink turnaround jumpers, hooks and finish with dunks.

Mihalick is not your traditional big man by any means, but his size allows him to have a huge impact on the floor at the high school level. Jake is more than comfortable stretching out to the three-point line or playing off the dribble, but will also catch the ball in the post and work around the rim. He finished through contact on multiple occasions and was simply too long not to finish on others. Mihalick also protected the rim at a high rate on Saturday, adding 4 blocks to his 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Up from 77: Elite length on the perimeter at 6-foot-10. Great shooter for his size. Catch-and-shoot from distance but also enough guard skills to put the ball on the deck to get to his spots. Will go in the post and score with turnaround jumpers and hook shots. Will need to add muscle, but has terrific skill and shoot touch.

, a 6’9 small forward, recently moved from Lanier Christian to Habersham Central. He demonstrated impressive shooting abilities during the summer and acquired valuable experience playing alongside older players at

. It is anticipated that these opportunities will have a positive impact on his performance at Habersham Central. We have him #89 in the state some have him ranked higher based on his potential as a 6’9 wing with great shooting form, confidence, and effort on both sides of the ball. His versatility on the court can be an advantage against defenders. Shooting is a strong suit but did learn this summer to take advantage of mismatches. I’m excited more about his development.

17u Black were impactful. The 6’9 wing is a ball hawk. On the offensive end, he traces the perimeter actively moving without the ball and looking for his shot, his mentality is focused on being prepared to receive the basketball or in a position to get it. Added to size, HoopAtlanta program coaches of all levels are excited about his development. Earning an opportunity to play at a high level produced a few good on-court opportunities and exposure at the 17u level purely based on effort and focus.

Habersham Central can use Jake in a variety of ways. With his length, he is very effective on defense rotating over to block shots. Offensively, he can thrive as a pick-and-pop wing. Jake has also showed over the course of his career the ability to score with his back to the basket with hook shots overtop the defense.

Starting to become a familiar name in North Georgia. Stretchy forward can play inside the arc but might be at his best on the wing. Shoots the three with accuracy but is also tough enough to get buckets in the paint with turnaround jumpers and hook shots. Has shown over the offseason the ability to finish with dunks with relative ease. Intriguing tools and a versatile skill set.
