Once he catches it, he has multiple counter moves ready as he showed the ability to drop-step and attack the rim, turn over either shoulder into a soft finish, or knockdown a controlled fadeaway jumper. He proved to be a fundamentally sound interior scorer who understands that the work starts before the catch, making him difficult to guard one-on-one, while his ability to play off either shoulder gave him answers regardless of how the defense chose to defend him.

Jake Marquardt Jake Marquardt 6'7" | PF Antonian Prep | 2029 State TX showcased tremendous potential and upside through his motor, productivity, and fluidity, barely scratching the surface of what he can become. Marquardt first made his presence felt on the glass, controlling rebounds with excellent timing, a keen eye for the basketball, and the length to secure boards well outside his area. Offensively, Jake wasted no time converting second-chance opportunities, displaying soft touch around the rim, the ability to finish through contact, and toughness in the trenches. In space, Marquardt finished powerfully with one- and two-handed dunks, nearly ripping the rim off the backboard. He also displayed great hands, consistently securing entry passes and maintaining control, allowing him to excel as a backdoor cutter, operate effectively from the dunker’s spot, and provide a reliable target for driving teammates as he ducked-in with his hands ready.

Marquardt is another young piece in Antonian’s growing pipeline, and his foundation is solid. He’s a long wing with good hands, sound footwork, an emerging shooting touch, and a willingness to rebound and defend. His game is trending in the right direction as he gains experience and confidence. As his skill set continues to mature, Marquardt projects as a player who will grow into a primary contributor. Competitive big man that really loves to challenge shots on defense often resulting in blocks or altered shot attempts.  Jake also has the ability to face up and attack defenders from the perimeter.  Once Jake adds some strength to his frame he’ll be a solid contributor at the high school for sure!
