Irondale didn’t have the best season last year, but Jake was a bright spot for them. He returns as a senior and will look to lead them to bigger and better things this winter. As a junior Jake put up 22.3 ppg, with 4 games of 30+ points. I had the chance to watch Jake a handful of times over the spring/summer with Minnesota Select where he was giving defenders problems with his mid-range game. Dedominces can stop on a dime to elevate for a pull-up jumper, and gets good elevation making it difficult to contest when he looks to shoot.

Jake showed out in a win on Sunday, playing very physically inside at the guard position. He was relentless attacking the basket, using his speed and strength to get downhill for scores at the rim through contact. I was also impressed with his ability to shoot off the dribble, creating looks for himself in the mid-range area. Dedominces is an excellent finisher with either hand and converted on some really tough acrobatic layups in transition.

Jake is lethal from mid-range. Against a team that loves to pressure the ball, Jake was one of the few players who didn’t seem fazed by it. Instead, Jake was able to break that pressure and get to his spots around the elbow where he’s so dangerous. Dedominces can stop on a dime and gets good elevation on his pull-up jumper, making it difficult for defenders to contest. All game long defenders had a difficult time keeping him in front as he got to his spots to score.
