Will Armishaw | Prep Hoops Scout
Clark, a guard out of Lexington Christian Academy in Massachusetts, checks in at #21 among the point guards and #153 overall. Clark is a compact, strong lead guard that does a great job of getting a piece of paint with the ball in his hands. He’s shifty, changes directions well, and has the ability to play through contact as a driver. He shows good vision in the half-court, finishes with creativity around the rim, and can knock down shots in bunches from behind the arc. Defensively, he does a nice job of making opponents uncomfortable on the perimeter, forces turnovers at a high clip, and transitions quickly off of his defensive rebounds. He remains undecided on a college destination.

Clark was perhaps the most electric player I saw Friday afternoon. The 6-foot guard completely took over the second half of LCA’s game against Roxbury Latin with multiple incredible takes to the rim and mid range jumpers. He gets into the paint at will with his quickness and burst, and he has special leaping ability and body control to be able to finish with both hands around the trees. He has great touch, great athleticism, and the skills to go with it. He also made great passes to his teammates when the defense started to overplay his drives, and he was probably LCA’s best on-ball and help defender. He should be looked at by scholarship programs and is probably one of the better players at the Class C level of prep school hoops.

Clark has thrived this spring while running the point for Team Sims. A standout at Lexington Christian, he’s a two-way guard that thrives playing at a fast pace. He has a good handle, does a nice job of playing at different speeds, and can really manipulate the defense when he attacks the paint. Physically, he’s a good athlete that has the strength needed to finish plays through contact. Defensively, he does a nice job of making plays off the ball, turning defense into quick offense in transition.

Clark was undeniably the best player on the court for the NEPSAC Class C small championship game. And quite frankly, it wasn’t very close. Clark was dominant on the defensive end and lived off of steals and fast break layups all game. He picked opponents’ pockets left and right in one-on-one defense but also got steals off of help-side rotations. Offensively, Clark got into the lane with ease and finished athletically over the defense consistently with both hands. I’ll be curious to see how he improves his outside shot in the next couple years – he made a couple in this one but it looks a little bit twitchy, so he definitely has room for improvement there. Definite college player somewhere.

Clark controlled the entire game on the offensive end for Team Sims. He knows when to be aggressive, when to set up his teammates, and when to slow the pace of the game down to control tempo. He’s incredibly quick with the ball in his hands and doesn’t need to be looking in your direction to be passing to you, so you better have your hands ready at all times. Clark is probably good enough to play high D3 ball, especially if he keeps improving his shot and/or happens to grow within the next couple years.

Rise: +22
Clark, who ran the show for Team Sims on the UA Rise circuit this summer, continues to prove that he’s one of the top combo guards in New England. An impressive playmaker in the open floor, Clark did a good job this summer of running an offense and proving capable of playing as a lead guard. He does a good job of putting pressure on the rim in transition, is able to get into the teeth of the defense off the bounce, and has great floor vision in the halfcourt. He does a great job of finding shooters in positions to score and has nice burst as a finisher in the paint. Defensively, he’s disruptive on the ball, showing off incredibly quick hands and great lateral movement. He’s a definite college prospect that should only continue to get better over the next two years.
