Previous Rank: 117rnJohnson perfectly embodies the style of play his Mariner team wants. He hustles for every ball, outrebounds bigger players (and there’s a lot of them), plays tenacious defense, and finds ways to score going downhill. He’s going to be a plus for any team just off of his hustle and motor alone, but Johnson also has some potential to add scoring, going for over 20 points a game this season.

Strengths: Motor, Defensive Pressure
Breakdown: Johnson is a sparkplug that outhustles players to leave an impact bigger than his 5-foot-10 frame. He has great quickness and burst that when combined with his high-energy motor, leads to steals, tips, and the ability to grab rebounds over taller players. He excels as a defender both on-ball and off and has enough scoring prowess to catch fire on certain nights.
Outlook: Johnson will make his mark at the next level with his defensive abilities and his high-effort play. He has the anticipation to take chances and capitalize on loose play from opponents. He is a gritty and tough-minded player that also flashes some ability to put the ball in the bucket.
Offers: University of Puget Sound
Interest: Northwest University, Western Washington University, Eastern Washington University

This season seems wide open for Johnson to make his mark on the Wesco. He has the tenacity to impact the game in a number of ways, going straight at defenders inside, harassing ball-handlers on defense, and taking on big moments in big games. There is a big scoring hole left by Tijan Saine that looks to have Johnson’s name on it. He not only has good strength at the rim but can get crafty with his approach, and his superb quickness leaves defenders little time to think. Johnson showed he can hit from behind the arc too and if he can keep his efficiency up from downtown, should be in store for a nice senior season.

No. 8 | Johnson is a sneaky little player that was right alongside Tijan Saine last season, creating havoc in opposing teams’ backcourts, and leading the charge for Mariner’s high-pressure defense. He might not have gotten the recognition some of his teammates received, but Johnson was key to Mariner’s push through the district playoffs and into a state tournament appearance. He is an aggressive, pesky guard whose game mirrors a lot of what Saine was able to do. He gets those tough shots to fall and even at his smaller size, plays with a bruising style. Johnson is going to lead the charge for Mariner next season, and I expect another high-pressured attack for the Marauders.
