Found it rather imperative to include Williams in this article for the work he did defending 2026

last night. He held the John Carroll all-time leading scorer to just 13 points, eight of which came from the charity stripe. To hold a guy who is used to putting up 20+ on a regular basis in a playoff game is something to be praised. His discipline in walling up on Able’s drives, his effort on chasing him around pin downs all while maintaining good position as the weakside defender was extremely impressive to watch. While much of his effort was demanded on the defensive end, Williams also knocked down a pair of three’s on his way to eight points in the win.

-Williams plays the game with such patience, performing well in the leading role that he has carved out for himself as a play-maker and defensive communicator to spearhead GCS’ schemes at both ends of the floor. Williams absorbed contact well his opponent’s drive to the rim to block a shot, hit a C+S corner 3 to give his team a 2-possession lead once more late in the 4Q, and rotated well from the weak side to block two more shots for his team. He plays a winning brand of basketball and it’s always a joy to see a leader that understands and unselfishly plays his role within the team concept.

-One of my favorite finds during the regular season, Williams epitomizes the term “floor general” with both his play and on-court communication. Williams earned extended run in an in-season tournament and impressed with his ability to lead the troops at both ends of the floor. A strong, stocky guard that can provide great POA defense, Williams is always looking to make the extra pass or kick it ahead for an easy transition bucket.

-Loved the unselfish, team-first leadership seen from Williams in his pockets of opportunity for extended minutes this season. A vocal leader that cares about the little details at both ends of the floor, he switches ends quickly as soon as his team gets the rebound to race it in transition to try to get a quick score. Rebounds the basketball exceptionally well for his size, sees the floor well as a sharp passer with either hand, and defends with a ton of heart both on and off the ball–sacrificing the body to take a charge when needed.
