Expert Analysis

Bowden is coming off a really good summer and fall. He’s a smooth lefty with a tremendous game from the neck up. Bowden can get downhill with the ball and make plays from there. He’s an underrated passer that can deliver the ball off a backdoor cut. Bowden’s intelligent and efficient basketball could help take Catholic Central deep in the playoffs.

One of the more basketball-savvy players I’ve come across in a long time. Bowden is able to create advantageous situations throughout a game for his team by using his brain and voice. On offense, he plays at his own pace when he has the ball but is frenetic off-ball in the best way possible. He scored on numerous simple cuts for layups that most other players are too lazy to make. Jackson is also a great communicator, equally as much on offense as defense. I say all of these things before mentioning that he’s about 6’4 and left-handed, a sweet combination.

Jackson made the most of his minutes, with most of his impact coming from his high quality passing game. Bowden often looked to push the ball forward with the pass in the fastbreak. Some may say a few of the passes he made were risky, but I say that they were innovative. Two things can probably be true at once; nonetheless, Jackson created good looks for his teammates.

Bowden is a very high upside prospect with the skills to match the potential. I really liked the way that he saw and read the floor from the very beginning of the game. Bowden drove the ball baseline and dished it off for an assist. He also grabbed a rebound and immediately looked up the floor, delivering a pass over the top of the defense and connecting with a teammate in transition.

Bowden is a prospect that holds a very bright future and he backed that statement with his play at the open gym. Bowden is a key part of a very exciting young core at DCC. He’s an athletic wing with a strong base and core. Bowden showed the ability to play physically through his defenders as well as athletically over the top of them. His physical straight line drive is incredibly impressive.

Bowden was absolutely lights out at the David Barns Showcase. We want to see more of him and see his stock continue to rise at the City Slam Pick-Up Ball Championships. Bowden is a strong and physical guard that plays very well off contact. Quite frankly, he looks like a high potential next level player.

Bowden is another player that simply looked like he could defend anywhere on the floor and against a player with any skill set or physical build. It’s tough to take players like that off the floor at any level.

Bowden was a high energy player that filled whatever role his team needed him to play. He proved to be a versatile defender that could defend all over the court. Bowden rebounded much bigger than his height by going up high after the ball. I really liked his understanding of transition basketball and his willingness to hustle and trail the break for high percentage buckets.
