Vanderwaal definitely deserves some more publicity. He’s having a very nice grassroots season so far with the West Michigan Lakers Blast team. Vanderwaal has done very good work on the glass using his body to establish position down low. The thing that has stood out to me this grassroots season has been his ability to hit shooters with a kick out pass.

Vanderwaal is definitely a player to watch in 2023. He’s a quickly developing talent with some length that he uses well. He’s sneaky strong with the ball, holding the ability to finish through contact and in traffic. Vanderwaal has a lot of potential as a high level post player in transition. He seems very comfortable getting up and down the floor.
