Dannels made the move from Nevada-based Bishop Gorman into the Trinity League with Santa Margarita and it was an important addition for the Eagles. The 6-foot-8 forward is a true “stretch four” prospect with his ability to knock down threes in a variety of different shot types, including catch-and-shoot, trail and pick-and-pop threes. Santa Margarita has done well in the past with floor stretching big men and Dannels fits that mold.

Hudson Dannels Hudson Dannels 6'8" | PF Santa Margarita Catholic | 2028 State CA-S has recently switched into Sin City Select 3SSB Threads and he has now has two offers on the board. One came from New Mexico St. a few weeks ago, and he also just offered by Murray St. His marksmanship skills are at a different level, and he’s always efficient. Either letting it go, or moving the rock. His length notably comes in handy on defense, and he uses his height + wingspan to alter shots. Plus he comes down with boards. Considering his attributes and upside, don’t be surprised if he’s another Nevada 2028 who college coaches look at during the Live Period events. 

Hudson Dannels Hudson Dannels 6'8" | PF Santa Margarita Catholic | 2028 State CA-S is still in the #5 slot in the latest 2028 rankings update. He was one of Gorman’s premier shooters who got open on the corners and wings often. From there, he didn’t waste time and let it go with his textbook form and high release point. Since defenders had to account for him, he certainly opened up driving lanes for his guards. He also leveraged his size to make his matchup uncomfortable on the defensive end, where he came down with boards as well. Dannels will be with Vegas Elite again this summer, and we may see his recruitment pick up.

Sharpshooter, Hudson Dannels Hudson Dannels 6'8" | PF Santa Margarita Catholic | 2028 State CA-S , poured in multiple shots beyond the arc thanks to his high release point and consistent shooting stroke. His confidence was evident, and I liked how he had zero hesitation before letting it go. Beyond his play on offense, he collected a couple of rebound and played hard on defense.

Hudson Dannels Hudson Dannels 6'8" | PF Santa Margarita Catholic | 2028 State CA-S is also moving into an expanded role for the Gaels. He will be a bit more featured this season, and for good reason. The 6’7 stretch 4 lit it up during the Nike circuit this summer, and he also played well during Section 7 and The Border League. Expect him to be one of the top 3-point shooters in all of 5A despite just being a sophomore.

Hudson Dannels Hudson Dannels 6'8" | PF Santa Margarita Catholic | 2028 State CA-S was one of the leading scorers for LV Orange yesterday. He stayed ready for catch and shoot opportunities. And he ended up knocking down a couple of 3’s. Dannels also made an impact by scoring inside and he got to the free throw line. Keep a look out for him the rest of the weekend.

Hudson Dannels Hudson Dannels 6'8" | PF Santa Margarita Catholic | 2028 State CA-S currently sits in the #4 position in the rankings. He looks to be in a line for a more prominent role this high school season after catching his games at the fall league. You can also tell that his teammates appreciate his ability to stretch the floor and knockdown open shots. In addition to his shooting, Dannels makes an impact on the game by snagging rebounds. And he is starting to show some more bounce.

He uses his instincts and IQ to get to his spots while his PG’s are driving to the cup. He also stayed ready to shoot and I’m sure college coaches took notice of his consistent release. I also saw him help out with rebounding and his length came in handy on defense.

The Bishop Gorman/Vegas Elite stretch 4 knocks down triples at a high rate and his mechanics are incredibly consistent. Dannels height and length also give him the chance to come down with boards and he scores in the paint every so often.
