Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
A highly active 6-5 big man who can really rebound the ball on both ends of the floor, Yates was a standout throughout the spring and summer with Court 45. He passes it well out of the post and the high post, seeing the floor well, and he finishes really well around the bucket with either hand. He’s capable of stepping out and stretching the floor. He may never be a star player, but he does a lot of little things that winning teams need, and he understands his role.

Yates was incredibly active on the glass for Court 45 in their game against 3-Point Elite out of Nebraska. The 6-5 big man runs the floor well, has long arms, and makes good, strong contact on his box outs. He does a nice job looking for open shooters or cutting teammates after pulling down offensive rebounds, racking up a number of assists from his work on the offensive glass. He also showed some ability to step out and stretch the floor, knocking down a catch-and-shoot 3 with confidence.
