Similar to McLaughlin above, Saint Pierre is going to be the bell cow for his scholastic team this winter. The Lakers are one of the younger teams in the MIAA A Conference, so they’ll depend heavily on the experience that Saint Pierre brings as the point guard. It’ll be critical that he shows the steady progression of controlling the pace of games and being assertive as a scorer while understanding the importance of remaining efficient and unselfish when the moment calls in order to instill confidence in the underclassmen around him. Not only will all of those traits bring good results to the Lakers’ record, but it’ll also simultaneously uplift momentum having to do with his recruiting picture.

Ghavyne was a treat to watch at DMV Live. Scored 29 in his lone game at Session I, then averaged close to 17 points a game during Session II. He shot the ball from well beyond the arc and always gained the attention of the defense. Made 2+ threes each game in his Live Period sessions. Along with his excellent touch, Ghavyne scored baskets with tremendous efficiency, only having one game shooting under 50% from the field. A true dominating performance from the senior guard. He will be a factor this year for Boys Latin under a new role as a main option

is another Boys’ Latin guard who was impressive. Ghavynne does a great job playing at his own pace, and he has great feel for the game. Ghavyne is an elite scorer who can get it done on all three levels. He’s incredibly crafty and does a good job creating space. Ghavyne had 17 points.

-St. Pierre had a productive season for a plucky BL group that either beat or gave a tough scare to several top local schools. He manipulates his defender well with his eyes, rarely betraying where he is going next with the ball while operating really well as a scorer that reads ball screens well. Love his scoring feel to know whether to reject the screen and shoot behind it or get downhill all the way to the baja. Love the touch on his pull-up jumper and he’s beginning to hit movement shots coming off of spin moves or stepbacks in the halfcourt.

Toggling between primary and secondary ballhandling duties, Saint Pierre was a consistent threat to touch the paint with his straight-line quickness. He also showcased a consistent stroke from the arc while being a consistent hound with his ball pressure on the defensive end. He won’t be a fit for everybody at his size, but checks a lot of the boxes that smaller guards need for success at the college level.

-St. Pierre is a PG that can really fill it up from all 3 levels, using his quickness to get past his matchup and score around the basket with soft touch. His feel as a passer is improving, finding teammates off the bounce with 1-handed passes through some tight windows. If he’s able to put on some weight, commits to forcing turnovers as a POA defender, and knocks down his shots opposite Davis– not only will his stock continue to rise but BL might surprise some people in league play
