Even as a smaller guard, he was pretty consistently winning the first step on the perimeter and putting pressure on the Bainbridge defense inside. Showed off his ability with his pull-up jumper again, and also found space behind the arc to be an effective perimeter shooter when his man backed off to prevent the drive.

Medina is an undersized guard at 5-foot-7 but he plays with big energy and was a big factor for Grandview in a competitive game against West Valley. He’s a quick kid and usually does a good job finding space to drive inside but this game he took most of his shots from the perimeter. Even as a smaller guard, he finds ways to create space and gets great lift on his jumpers to counter any size lost to his defender. He was hitting a lot of pull-ups and gives them a great spark when he has the ball.

Medina has been playing great this summer, showing tremendous growth in his game. He plays under-control when attacking down-hill, keeping his eyes up to see his open teammates outside on the perimeter. He has a solid mid-range shot and has knocked down three’s when defenders leave him open. He is one of the better ball handlers in the class and will have a big season next year.

Medina was solid all weekend long, leading Grandview to the championship game and defeating 2A powerhouse Lynden along the way. He handled the ball well, protecting it through tough traffic and finding his teammates at a high level throughout each game. Grandview ran a tough 2-3 zone defense with Medina pestering opponents with ball pressure at the top.

He was one of the quickest guards on display at the Shootout and it was extremely tough for defenders to stay in front of him. He was drawing fouls on drives, beating his man to gaps, and forcing multiple defenders to close in. He helped Grandview play at a fast pace in the halfcourt and was a big reason they moved the ball so well to find open shots.

Quick, bursty guard who can play both guard spots. Plays with good vision on both ends, attacking gaps hard with the ball and knowing when to take chances defensively. Has good pace and can stop quickly in space to knock down open jumpers. Also has a nice finishing package around the hoop and shows good hangtime when attacking defenders at the rim.
