Ari Rosenfeld | Prep Hoops Scout
As West Catholic looks to maintain its culture of intense, high-octane play under new coaching leadership, Scott’s returning presence and growth at the point of attack looks to be a major key. An experienced starter in the backcourt, Scott is back to help run the show, and he shined in a runaway win on Sunday with his ability to get to downhill at will off the dribble and pester opposing guards on the other end. He heated up early with some easy buckets at the rim, including a “pick six” layup, and displayed his improving perimeter stroke later on while confidently knocking down a trio of catch-and-shoot attempts. While a bit undersized, Scott makes up for in heart, moxie, and toughness. If he can continue to reign in his decisionmaking and limit turnovers, an All-PCL type season and scholarship-level recruitment could be waiting on the horizon.

Scott is well known as a quick burst, up-tempo, three-level scoring guard. However, what impressed the most about his performance in a win over DeMatha (MD) was that Lundy recognized that his teammate

had the hot hand (more on Wheatley in a minute) and then continually delivered him the rock in the right spots. Scott’s live dribble passing on the fast break as well as in the half-court was remarkable. He also flashed the ability to deliver accurate skip passes to open shooters. Scott produced points by raining in threes from all around the arc. He also got to the rack in transition for creative finishes. College coaches need to stop sleeping on Scott and contact he immediately.

to the proverbial transfer portal, a lot will fall on Scott’s plate coming off a breakout year with flashes of brilliance after transferring into the PCL. He looked ready to shoulder the load on Monday using his crafty and compact dribble-drive attack to work his way downhill consistently to create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Scott showed impressive resiliency while taking on physical defenders and being responsible to make things happen on most trips down the floor. We’ll be looking for him to show progress moving forward as a consistent finisher and perimeter shooter, but his competitiveness and ability to touch the paint consistently are sure to place him on college radars in due time.

Scott’s quick burst, up-tempo, three-level scoring skill set is built for the grassroots circuit. This weekend Scott will be playing with Philly Elite, and he will torture opponents with his 3-point shooting and dribble drive scoring. Scott can knock down triples of every variety, but he is especially lethal at shooting from deep off the bounce. On the fast break, he will not hesitate to slam on the breaks at the arc and pop a trey. His step-back shooting must be respected too. On half-court possessions, Scott can use his elusive handle to create scoring opportunities for himself at the rim or to draw the help defense and then deliver well-timed passes to teammates.

Scott is a quick burst scoring point guard with elusive handles and a high IQ. In short, Scott’s game is built for the grassroots circuit. His ability to go coast to coast for a lay-in or an assist is remarkable. Scott can drain threes of every variety, but he is especially effective on pull up / transition triples. On half-court possessions, Scott can blow past his defender and get into the painted area for scores or to deliver dimes to teammates. His live dribble passing is especially impressive. During West Catholic’s march to the 3A state title, Scott recorded a tourney high 14 points (2 3PM) and dished out 5 assists in the WC’s championship game victory over South Allegheny.

Pairing with Byrd as part of an extensive core of Burrs sophomores, Scott tied for a team-high 11 points to help key the win. A starter at times throughout the season, Scott came off the bench and immediately went to work as a sparkplug downhill playmaker. He excels using his shifty handle and low center of gravity to propel into the lane for crafty finishes or passes off two feet. Scott also helps to set an intense tone in the backcourt with his bothersome ball pressure on defense. When he’s making smart decisions and stretching defenses consistently to the arc, the outlines are there for a scholarship-level guard when the time comes despite being nominally undersized.
