Muhlenberg returns multiple key players from a team that reached the District 3 playoff, none as crucial to their success as Hemmings. The two-way player has game on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he can play on or off the ball. He looks to get others involved just as much as he looks to score himself, where he can get it going from all three levels. On the defensive end, he’s willing to switch onto multiple positions and is always fighting for a rebound. With a continually improving inside game and added strength, Hemmings looks to take a big leap heading into his junior year.

It was at Philly Live last year that Hemmings experienced his breakout, erupting for nearly 30 points in a battle with DC power Archbishop Carroll. The smooth wing guard has continued to progress in the time since, impressing with a well-rounded impact on both ends of the floor. Hemmings is a natural shot-maker whether spotting up off-ball, playing out of triple threat, or pulling up in the midrange. As he’s grown, he’s also shown impressive aptitude using his size to get into the post against smaller defenders while consistently chipping in defensively as a rebounder and weakside playmaker. He’s still learning to consistently impose his will on games, but D1s are already keeping tabs on the young rising junior for good reason as his game should eventually translate smoothly with a scholarship-level lineup surrounding him.

Starting this summer Hemmings will take his turn as one of Muhlenberg’s top offensive options. With his athleticism, versatility and three level scoring skills we expect he will handle that role without a problem. Hemmings can operate as a point guard or play off-the-ball. From both spots, Hemmings is a bona-fide playmaker. He can knock down jumpers from all over the floor and score on straight line drives. He can also produce points on back door or baseline cuts. Plus, Hemmings can put the ball on the deck and then dish out assists to teammates. His high IQ, court vision and patience make Hemmings a fantastic ball handler on the fast break. On defense, his length and quick lateral movements made Hemmings extremely switchable. Hemmings is a fierce defensive rebounder too.

It was a struggle overall for Muhlenberg on the night, but Hemmings still managed to show why he’s drawn attention as one of the more noteworthy long-term prospects in District 3. He had a lot on his plate in terms of shot-creation while also having to contribute consistently on the glass and defending bigger players. Hemmings impressed with staying mentally engaged and competing throughout the game, getting himself going offensively with some smooth perimeter jumpers out of triple threat and mismatch buckets in the post. He shows a clear feel for the game with the floor-spacing ability that should benefit from having more playmaking alongside him. Young for his grade and stepping into a go-to role for the first time, Hemmings has a clear chance to emerge as a D1 prospect in due time.
