About Drew
Expert Analysis
Tony Roe | Prep Hoops Scout
Denekas was dominant last season for the Mustangs, averaging 13.2 points and 10.2 rebounds a game. A 6-3 power forward, he has soft hands, good touch around the rim, and has worked to extend his game out to the perimeter a bit more within the last year. G-LR moving to the War Eagle from the Siouxland should be beneficial for him and the team as a whole this year.

Denekas may be a bit undersized as a traditional big man, but he’s a physical forward who does a great job on the glass on both ends of the floor, playing with a non-stop motor and using his soft hands and physical frame to dominate the painted area. He’s a good finisher around the rim with either hand, and last year he showed some improved confidence in his shooting, knocking down 26 3-pointers at a 36% clip.

Denekas is your typical undersized small-school big man who plays with physicality, a non-stop motor, and has excellent, soft hands. He was dominant for the Mustangs as a sophomore, averaging 15.3 points and 11.0 rebounds a game, using that physical frame to control the painted area on both ends of the floor. He has good touch around the rim, and his work at the free-throw line (70.3%) suggests that he may be able to add a little bit of range to his game.
