The Hawks have been the team to beat in the conference for the last half-decade, and despite some heavy personnel losses, they will continue to be the team to beat. Homan is their best player and a pretty easy choice for PPOY here.
First Team
2025 Collin Homan Collin Homan 6'5" | PF Remsen, St. Mary's | 2025 State IA (St. Mary’s, Remsen): 14.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, 61.7 FG%
A highly efficient forward who can score inside and out for the Hawks, Homan buried 47% of his 3-point attempts, albeit on limited attempts, last season. In addition to his domination in the paint as a scorer and rebounder, he’s also the lynchpin of a dominant defensive team.
2024 Drew Denekas Drew Denekas 6'2" | PF George-Little Rock | 2024 State IA (George-Little Rock): 13.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals
Denekas averaged a double-double in the always tough Siouxland last season, and should be even better with the Mustangs making the move to the War Eagle for his senior year. A skilled big man with good hands and soft touch, he’s stellar on the glass and as an interior scorer.
2024 Dustin Hoksbergen (Trinity Christian): 14.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.1 steals, 77.1 FT%
A 6-3 forward who does nearly all of his damage inside the arc, Hoksbergen led the Tigers in scoring and rebounding last season while also finishing second in assists. He sees the floor well out of his post position and is a willing passer.
2024 Jackson Marnach (Akron-Westfield): 11.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.1 blocks
Marnach averaged a double-double last season for the Westerners, a team that should be much improved this season with seven of their top eight scorers returning. His presence in the paint on both ends of the floor is a game-changer for A-W.
2026 Brayson Mulder Brayson Mulder 6'3" | SF MMCRU | 2026 State IA (MMCRU): 11.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.3 steals, 78.1 FT%
Mulder was really good as a freshman for the Royals, leading the team in scoring and finishing second in rebounding. A 6-3 wing who can score from all three levels, he’ll be the focal point offensively of an MMCRU team that will be much improved.
Second Team
2024 Laytin Koch (Akron-Westfield)
2024 David Bottjen (South O’Brien)
2024 Caleb Hemphill (Harris-Lake Park)
