About Drew
Expert Analysis

Drew Anderson is one of the more agile wings out there. He covers a ton of ground with his long strides and his motor never stops. His rim running ability also helps him both score and defend the basket. And I like how he can also stretch the floor with his 3-point shooting. In Santa Mararita’s double OT win over Bishop Gorman, the senior dropped 29 Points, 19 Rebounds, and had 2 assists. It was a monster performance.

Winning breakout MVP of the 3SSB circuit, Anderson was a standout for Jalen Green Elite this summer averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds a game while also averaging over one block and one steal. That type of production is hard to find on major shoe circuits as Anderson’s combination of size, scoring touch, rebounding and defensive impact pops when you watch him and on the stat sheet. Committed to Oregon State, Anderson could have the chance to make an instant impact at the college level.

Anderson is a skilled and sharp-shooting player that can score in the paint, as well as from the perimeter, plays well in both the half court setting and the open court, and is an underrated defender. The 6-foot-9 stretch-four has good footwork with use of the pivot in the post to get separation from opposing bigs, has good touch on finishes around the basket, has good feel and timing on dives off the pick and roll action, with good hands to receive passes on the roll and the body control to finish through contact at the basket. Anderson has become more comfortable sealing off defenders in the paint, using his strong build to back others down, and uses the quick turn-around move to get by and score against opposing bigs. Anderson moves fluidly off the ball, has the moves to create his own shot off the perimeter, and is accurate with the 3-ball off the bounce or the catch. Anderson crashes the boards, has enough handle to push off the glass, and runs the floor well to get ahead of the defense. The Oregon State commit had 14 points in the Eagles win over Crespi, and is part of a senior heavy roster that will look to win the Trinity League and get an Open Division bid this coming season.

He was on a group that hadn’t played together long. The 6’7 forward found his rhythm early. With length and size, he was a regular contributor. He’ll take, and make 3’s from the corners on the catch, use a dribble on the wings, or come down in transition. He hit short jumpers, drove the baseline, and other angles to get paint points. He got a good number of rebounds, and tap in points.

Drew Anderson is a consistent contributor on offense. His top performance came on Day 2 when he dropped 22 points and he collected 9 rebounds. Many of his points come from knocking down 3-pointers and slam dunks. I also liked the way he ran the floor and I noticed that he was often open for throw ahead passes. Expect his stock to continue rising the rest of the summer.
