Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
Walsh is a quick, intelligent lead guard who excels at running a team and making the right play. A pass first floor general, he is very comfortable with the basketball in his hands and consistently puts teammates in position to succeed. Walsh plays with toughness, competes on every possession, and demonstrates a strong understanding of the game through his decision making and court awareness. He controls tempo well, takes care of the basketball, and rarely forces the action. Defensively, he is active and engaged, applying pressure on the ball and making plays with his anticipation and effort.

Walsh has become a well-known name in recent years. He is an excellent passer, outstanding in transition, and the highest compliment you can give him is that he is a winner. After spending his high school career as the face of Fivay High School since his arrival as a freshman, he is now transferring to Northside Christian. There, he will join forces with Eli Ahlers as they aim for a deep playoff run this season.

Walsh has had a hot start to the season as both a scorer and a facilitator. He excels at doing something most kids no longer prioritize: passing the ball. As a point guard, he gives the ball up early in the possession with advance passes to his wings, while continuing to run the floor and look for playmaking opportunities. He is a crafty finisher around the rim and can hit open jump shots. Walsh is an excellent decision-maker who sets the table for his teammates. He rebounds well for his position and is actively engaged on the defensive end. He is certainly shaping up to be one of the most well-rounded point guards in the area, regardless of class.

I love watching this kid play, he plays hard every time he steps on the court and has an extremely high basketball IQ. Walsh is a crafty PG who can lock down on D and rebounds the ball very well from the guard position. He can score in bunches, but what really impresses me is his ability to see the floor and create for his teammates. He was by far the best passer throughout the showcase and amazed me with some of the looks he had throughout the day. Walsh is also like having a coach on the floor. He is constantly talking and giving his teammates advice, but in a positive, respectful manner. You can tell the 5’11” PG just loves the game, and his passion for the sport make him a must watch prospect.

Dominick is young but has a very high IQ and feel for the game. He does a good job making sure the ball gets distributed around to his playmakers. He is mentally tough and isn’t afraid of the bright lights. He plays on and off the ball, and his production rarely dips.
