The unflappable senior guard was at the heart of Ada’s fourth quarter comeback that kept their season alive. His feel at navigating traffic at his own pace and his touch around the rim on floaters is among the best in Oklahoma. After his team trailed by 8-12 points for much of the game, it was a trademark tough floater finish that tied up the contest with about a minute remaining. MacCollister’s game is a great example of how controlling pace can be more effective then just pure speed. His ability to get off tough shots in crowds is remarkable and will be on display for at least one more week as Ada battles for a Class 4A State Tournament berth.

The senior is a master at playing at his own pace, with a smooth game that has carved up teams this year. MacCollister has a slippery way of navigating inside, with a soft shooting touch that allows him to hit contested floaters against bigger teams. Even when playing a faster paced team like Millwood, he rarely looked bothered. As he has the ability to stop quickly and allow any defense that is overpaying him to glide by. Along with the stoppping ability, he has good control on pumpfakes and ball fakes to add to his ability to create space for himself. Ada is currently trying to navigate through the consolation side of a tough 4A area, and the senior is continuing to show the clutch gene. As a big late three pointer against a fellow ranked squad, Byng, kept their season alive yesterday.

McCollister is a cool customer at the guard spot with a smooth game that allowed him to weather the pressure that the Falcons threw at him. In the half court, he’s able to slip by defenders and it’s seemingly automatic if he’s able to get 4-6 feet out with a consistent floater. Willing to play off the ball as well, that gave him more driving opportunities and even knocked down open jumpers. The senior made some clutch plays late in a close contest, with his Cougars falling just short in their bid to take down the 405 squad.

MacCollister stared for the Cougars as a shifty and under control driver and Kingston couldn’t keep him out of the paint. He leaned on two foot stops on drives, where he was just as likely to drop his tear drop floater over outstretched arms or compile assists by firing good kick out passes to open shooters. Ada shot it very well as a team from beyond the arc, and it was often because of the looks created and passing from MacCollister. Along with his driving ability, he’s a well rounded guard who made heady plays on the defensive end. In overtime, he was clutch. In the final minute it was a tough finish by him at the rim to put Ada up for good. Then he buried a pair of free throws shortly after to help extend the lead.
