Expert Analysis
Eric Wallace | Prep Hoops Scout
Hubbard is one of the top available scoring guards in the state’s 2026 class. We saw him score 34 point in a win over Greater Atlanta Christian earlier this season. The senior can put the ball in the basket at all three levels, is a better than average athlete and knows how to play.

The best Swiss Army Knife in the state of Georgia. He has an everlasting motor, and his impact was felt from the opening tip. DJ is one of the smartest players I watched at the Classic, consistently dictating pace while defending at a high level and distributing with purpose. He’s a willing shot-maker with a knack for getting to the basket, finishing with his off-hand, and creating opportunities for teammates. He checks every box on the floor and is also a natural leader. Overall, he’s a high-IQ basketball player with a game that translates at every level. Underrated athlete that finishes will with both hands. The consistency he brings on both ends makes him one of the most dependable prospects in the event.

DJ has played well so far at Team Camps, including UGA’s Team Camp where he led his team in scoring on Day 2. He’s a combo guard that pushes the ball well in transition and he’s able to control the pace of play in the half court game. His ability to knock down three’s opens up scoring lanes and allows him to attack when the opportunity is there. He utilizes the mid-range well and he can finish at the rim. He has a strong IQ, passes the ball well, an allows the game to come to him. On defense, Devin does well pressuring the ball and he creates turnovers with his length in the passing lanes. He’s now about 6’2″ and looks even more like a college prospect. This weekend could be a big step for him in the recruiting world.

DJ Hubbard took care of business, this past spring with AC Georgia 2026, showing why college coaches should continue to keep an eye on him. He pushes the ball well in transition and controls the pace of play. He can shoot it from deep consistently but looks to attack when he can. DJ uses all three levels of scoring and can make opponents pay in the mid-range. He sees the floor well and gets the ball in his teammates’ hands early in possessions. Defensively, he’s constantly putting pressure on ball-handlers and forcing them to make decisions with the ball. DJ’s biggest area to grow is in the weight room. Adding an extra 15 pounds of muscle will make him one of the harder guards to slow down in his class. Standing closer to 6’2″, don’t be surprised when he finds his way into the rankings.

DJ Hubbard is a prospect that is trending upward and rapidly. He’s had great performances, so far during the travel ball season, and he’s not just showing flares of ability, he’s showing that he can compete at a high level and consistently be one of the leading scorers in the process. DJ’s ability to handle the ball while looking down court makes him a major threat in transition to either score or find an open teammate for an easy basket. DJ came into the travel season a good 3-point shooter and he’s improved his efficiency and range. The upcoming live period could work heavily in DJ’s favor in regards to college recruitment.

At first glance, Devin Hubbard looks like at ‘3 & D’ guy because he doesn’t waste time showing he has range, and he’s willing to anchor down and apply pressure to ball-handlers. Last weekend at the HoopSeen GA Cup II, and this past weekend at the On The Radar “Summer Jam”, DJ was recognized for his defensive efforts and his 3-point shooting. In addition to being a 3-point specialist, DJ pushes the ball extremely well in transition, and almost always makes the right read. If there’s a scoring lane, he attacks it, and if he has a teammate in a better scoring position, he gets the ball out of his hands fast. Devin has the ability to impact a game from several angles and the more he’s looking to score, the more it opens up his playmaking opportunities to get teammates involved. At the pace DJ has been playing at, he should be making his way into the rankings and fast. Devin can really take another leap, this spring and summer, by creating contact on the drive, maintaining his handles through contact, and getting into the paint to create easy scoring attempts for himself and others.
