About Deston
Expert Analysis
Jaelin Stovall | Prep Hoops Scout
Deston is a dual-sport athlete and a fast-paced, twitchy left-handed guard who consistently hunts quality scoring opportunities. His shiftiness enables him to create separation and generate clean looks, and his shot making is dependable at all three levels. Defensively, he is one of the most underrated guards in the state. His wingspan, speed, and athletic pop allows him to beat ball-handlers to their spots, turn them, and force frequent turnovers. He continues to show upward trajectory as a two-way threat, with the tools and motor to impact winning at a high level.

Deston is probably the biggest breakout guard of the class of 2026 in Northeast GA. He’s standing around 5’10”, he’s arguably the best ball-handler and decision maker in the class of 2026, in Northeast Georgia. He’s a true floor general that can command an offense and be the extension, of the coach, on the floor. He’s a playmaker in transition and understands how to pass guys open to get them easy shot attempts. Since team camps began, he’s been on fire. He’s now showing to be consistent from beyond the arc, and shooting 3’s at a higher clip. As he continues to improve athletically, college coaches should be intrigued with how he continues to develop.

, has flown under the radar for a while. But now that travel ball is underway, he’s starting to show that his name should be mentioned in coaches’ circles at some of the smaller schools, in the area. Standing around 5’10”, he’s arguably the best ball-handler and decision maker in the class of 2026, in Northeast Georgia. He’s a true floor general that can command an offense and be the extension, of the coach, on the floor. He’s a playmaker in transition and understands how to pass guys open to get them easy shot attempts. He can knock down the occasional 3-pointer and can get paint touches, when he’s looking to be aggressive with his scoring. He had his coming out party last weekend, at the HoopSeen “Tennessee Jam” where he had multiple games scoring over 15 points and 7 assists. Deston will continue to get better, especially if he continues to take advantage of the weight room and becomes more and more explosive athletically.
