Hovind’s versatility as a forward was evident in his effectiveness from the high post, leaving the defense on their toes each time he set a pick. His intelligence in executing the slip, pop, or roll action often exploited weaknesses in the opponent’s defense. Not just adept at setting picks, Dax wasn’t afraid of physicality, willingly taking charges and absorbing contact without losing balance or being moved from his position.
