McCray consistently anticipated the Lake Highlands’ plays, reading their offense, and effectively communicating with his team. Justin’s ability to call out everything he saw and predict what would happen often allowed him to blow up the play or set up a helpside teammate to make the play. The 6’2” forward provided constant productivity, setting screens and maintaining excellent spacing near the post. He showcased a high motor by crashing the boards and limiting Lake Highlands’ shot attempts. McCray played with a relentless pursuit of the ball, whether in his area or not, showing a willingness to sacrifice his body to gain possession. His defensive presence was also felt as he sprinted from the paint out to the perimeter to get steals in the passing lanes, showcasing an all-over-the-court playmaking ability.
Steven Ramirez Steven Ramirez 6’5″ | SG Keller | 2025 State TX led Keller with 13 points in a victory against Plano Prestonwood. Ramirez’s size and build greatly contributed to his success on the court. He excelled tremendously anytime he utilized his body to extend possessions and create offensive opportunities, whether by driving, posting up to receive passes, or producing offensive rebounds for second-chance points. Ramirez consistently positioned himself well to receive the ball on both ends, showcasing strong a defensive performance with his ability to secure rebounds or steals and advance the ball up the court in a hurry.
Dax Hovind Dax Hovind 6’6″ | SF Prestonwood Christian Academy | 2024 State TX displayed remarkable proficiency as a pick man, knowing precisely when, how, and where to set his picks unprompted to, showing his chemistry with his teammates. Hovind’s versatility as a forward was evident in his effectiveness from the high post, leaving the defense on their toes each time he set a pick. His intelligence in executing the slip, pop, or roll action often exploited weaknesses in the opponent’s defense. Not just adept at setting picks, Dax wasn’t afraid of physicality, willingly taking charges and absorbing contact without losing balance or being moved from his position.

His prowess in dishing out the extra pass, often by spotting opportunities for the kick-out and using the baseline to locate open teammates across the court was impressive, displaying a great understanding of the court along with a nice feel for the game. A pass-first player, his skillful facilitating kept the defense on their toes and kept the offense flowing smoothly. Jehl displayed a range of passing abilities, consistently delivering accurate throws directly to his teammates’ hands.
