DaVonte Brooks DaVonte Brooks 6'4" | SF Eastern Randolph | 2023 State NC finds himself inside the Top 100 at the 62nd spot in the final 2023 rankings update following his leading of Eastern Randolph High to the State Finals. The Wildcats fell short but not cause of Brooks as he powered their offense with 34 points and 19 rebounds despite the result against Wilson Prep. He’s an athletic wing that plays with a ton of energy on both ends of the floor and a prospect for LM D1s and HM DII’s to get eyes on at some point this spring/summer.

DaVonte Brooks DaVonte Brooks 6'4" | SF Eastern Randolph | 2023 State NC has been one of the most underrated names in NC so far this year, and he brought it all in his team’s tight defeat to Wilson Prep. He is an undersized forward that plays so hard every trip on the floor, and battles down low to make his presence known. 34 points and 19 rebounds (9 OREB) on Saturday made everyone who didn’t know very aware of those facts. He battled the entire night against bigger guys inside, and worked to win rebounding battles by positioning himself and then hitting and boxing out hard. He’s also always competing down low as a interior scorer, and uses his frame to draw defenders into fouling him, where he can go to the free throw line and get more opportunities to score. He’s a classic D3 post player, or an undersized forward that could compete at other levels, but his skill and intensity are undeniable. He deserves an opportunity at the next level.

His impact and stats from the regular season have been simply impressive and he is one of the better unsigned seniors that remains on the board. He plays bigger than his height, has impressive athletic ability and doesn’t hesitate at all about mixing it up inside with opponent’s regardless of their size, which is one of the reasons why they have found a high amount of success.

Brooks battled through foul trouble in their Region Final victory comeback over Bishop McGuinness but he’s still a factor in the frontcourt/wing for the Eastern Randolph squad as they’ve gotten this far. He’s a wiry forward that flies around on both ends making plays around the rim and comes in averaging a double-double (24.3 ppg, 11.9 rpg) on the season.

Brooks has emerged as a new face for colleges coaches to get to know this season at Eastern Randolph High. He’s a wiry-framed 6-foot-4 versatile wing prospect that’s putting up 24.3 ppg, 11.9 rpg, 2.9 spg and 2.1 apg as the Wildcats enter the 1A West Final with a 28-2 record. He’s shown off an ability to operate around the rim and make plays happen around the rim all season long and will look to keep it going against Bishop McGuinness on Saturday.
