Facing a tough opening round matchup in Tartan, Mills’ length and athleticism as a guard could be key defensively. Tartan has some skilled shot creators out on the perimeter, and DaRoyce has the combination of length and lateral mobility that is neccessary to slow them down. Whether its off the bench or in the starting five, DaRoyce is someone who comes in and can provide a spark for Blaine.

DaRoyce started to breakthrough at the varsity level last season at Park Center, averaging just over 3 ppg in 12 appearances, but is now at Blaine where he’ll look to jump into an even bigger role as a senior. Physically he has the profile of a prospect, standing at 6’2 with good length and explosive athleticism. In the game I watched he was able to leak out in transition and elevate to finish above the rim. Defensively he’s going to come out and compete, using his long frame to get up in passing lanes and make plays.

DaRoyce is another scrappy player who stepped up this week in a win. After a rough start to the season, Park Center has rebounded in 2025, and on Monday night Mills did a little of everything to help his team win. He pulled in a few rebounds, was playing scrappy defense, pushed the tempo leading to some transition buckets, and hit some clutch free throws in overtime. He goes out and plays with effort, and has the type of athleticism to play the uptempo style that Park Center likes.

DaRoyce was playing hard at The Expo, making plays on both ends of the floor. There were some possessions where the junior guard looked like the best defender I saw all day, showing off his quick lateral speed. Offensively, he was finding a lot of success getting downhill, converting on both acrobatic and physical layups inside. Mills is a scrappy guard who can be an impact player on sides of the ball with his athleticism and motor.
